Reiki, healing mental habits

Things to consider and know about healing mental habits with reiki, in no particular order..

# Reiki Ideals

The story goes that when Usui was treating people he found that much of the problems with people’s life circumstances that appeared to improve after they received reiki treatments with him returned after a period of time. It is suggested, in some reiki lineages, that this was the reasoning behind Usui teaching the contemplation and training in the reiki ideals. From the point of view of this reiki person, it is one thing to examine your mental habits and beliefs, and to tear down the olde ways of doing things, but you have to also have something to put in their place.

# Give reiki to your head

You should give hands on reiki to your head if you want to heal mental habits.

# Think about chakras

Think about which chakras are related to the mental habits you are wanting to heal, and give reiki to them.

# More than a few treatments

Do not expect miracles with reiki. Reiki is a slow and gentle healing process. At least that is the best way to practise it. You should not push your system too hard. Give yourself lots of shorter treatments and give yourself time to adjust to the changing in your energy.

reiki, giving reiki with your breath..

How do you give reiki with your breath?

This is a bit of a follow on from our post the other day about giving reiki with your eyes. And I wanted to mention that although it is possible to be able to give reiki without have an empowerment, because it is not something that comes from without, reiki comes from within, it is already within you.. the most direct path is through empowerment.

So, in this post and the previous one about giving reiki with your eyes, as with most of the reiki posts we write here at reiki blogger, I guess we make some general assumptions, like for example that people have received reiki empowerments/attunements.

Giving reiki with your breath is most eaily done after receiving the second degree empowerment. Which is not to say that you can not learn to give reiki with your breath after the first degree.. but the more commonly taught technique is with a symbol given in the second degree, traditionally. (at least that is how I was taught)

reiki.. healing the spirit

Reiki heals physical, mental and spiritual.

Because reiki is energy healing. And everything is a system of energy.

Like a concentric circle. Or layers of an onion.

Just healing the body is like clipping unwanted leaves off a tree. The tree remains.

If you want to find lasting healing, you need to allow the energy to heal your spirit.

Reiki will heal the spirit. But.. it is not automatic.. you can put blocks in its way. For example, you can choose not practise self treatments, even though you have received the empowerment and instructions to do so.

The only way to truly find healing and forgiveness in your heart is to find devotion to your reiki energy. You have to have deep faith that the energy will heal, and will guide you. Because, it is a long, slow and gentle road, the reiki path. It is not a quick fix. It is not all finished after your empowerments.

If you want the benefits of a spiritual practise, you have to do it. Day after day. And give up the thought of defining how your greater, improved, more spiritually aware self is going to manifest. Let go of notions of right and wrong.

Reiki retreat.. get the most out of your time..

Retreat is one of the best ways to deepen your practise of reiki. Here are some key things to consider when taking yourself on a reiki retreat:

# Why are you going?
Always check your motivation. Are you just trying to escape your life for a while. Fine if you are, as long as you are aware of it. Try to bring to mind a deeper motivation that rest and relaxation, though, and you will get a lot more out of your time away.
# Where are you going?
You do not need to spend alot of money or time to put yourself into a healthy retreat space. In the tibetan tantric tradition you are considered on retreat if you keep four sessions in one day. Giving yourself four self treatments in one day would be an excellent way to begin reiki retreat.

reiki, giving reiki with your eyes

Once you start giving reiki you just sort of know how to do it.

Would that be accurate?

The truth is, you start to develop a very subtle intention or belief that the energy will flow. You learn to let go. You learn to allow the energy to flow. It is not a forced thing.

Giving reiki with your eyes is fairly staright forward. Let’s start by saying that.

But, you need to be able to have the same confidence the energy will flow, as you do when you put your hands of someone. So, it is adviseable to start with hands on reiki healing, then experiment with giving reiki with your eyes.

The key to giving reiki with your eyes is to relax your focus and let the object come to you. Easier said than done, take it from me.

And, this is where reiki training really starts to be training in energy awareness. Because as you start to do this you will start to see that normally your energy goes out from you, like reaching out into the world.

You want to keep your personal ki, in your hara, and not go out to the objects. You want them to come to you.

If you can manage this. You are doing pretty well. Let me just say that.

But, with a little perseverence and effort there is not anyone that would not be able to master this.

By keeping your energy centered and by letting the light of the objects come to you, you will allow the reiki, which is naturally wanting to go out (for want of a better way of putting it.. because reiki is technically not out there, not in here, not both, not neither.. now doesn’t that just bake your noodle a little!).. like the saying about God just waiting for you to open the door.. you just need to knock.. or something like that (my brain is a little cooked today!).

Reiki is able to flow because you are not in the way. You are not trying to control your awareness or your attention. So, the more subtle aspects of your awareness can shine through. In this case we are giving it the label reiki.

Reiki and parenting.. part 1

How can reiki help you with parenting?

This is the first in a series of brief posts about how reiki can help with raising your kids.

PART 1

Most parents will tell you that one of the most important things a child needs is a good, consistent routine.

Part of our childrens routine is to have some relaxation time before they go to sleep. For the littlest ones that includes having some warm milk sitting in mum’s arms, while she rocks gently in a big chair in their room. Relaxing whale music softly plays in the background.

For the eldest one (who is eight) we read a few chapters of a book and talk.. if anything comes up that he wants to chat about. Him in bed, dad sitting on the bed.

And then to finish off the evening relaxation routine, we give the kids some hands on reiki.

Reiki.. It is all about the energy!

I was watching this really interesting piece on John Dobson last night on our ABC. Some great and enthusiastic thinker about the cosmos.

He was talking about how everything in the universe is both energy and sentient.

He was also talking about things like the inconsistency of the big bang theory and the more likely theory that the universe had no beginning or end.

Good stuff.

It got me thinking about energy. And how much more sense things make when you start to shift your thinking to looking at life as systems of energy, rather than solid objects. Because, solidity implies permanence.. which gives you the sense it is fixed and unchanging.

But, nothing in life is like that.
