Reiki healing.. healthy living

Alot of the people that have come through our little healing house in the mount lofty ranges, australia, have been women.

I have theorized about this with my wife before.. just for fun.

I think it has something to do with women being more comfortable with emotional conversation, and also with the fact that most men have not truly endured pain like women have (child birth). I know that there is no inherent difference between men and women.. we all have a human mind.. and the same potential for spiritual development.

But, it is not just something that is noticeable at our little reiki house, I have also noticed a similar trend at courses and programs at our local buddhist temple, where I actually lived for a year or so before my wife and I were married.

Almost 80% of all the programs are attended by women.

Does anyone have any theories? I would love to here what you think.

Anyway.. today I wanted to highlight one of our friend’s website dedicated to healthy women’s fitness.. RT is a very close friend of mine.. and a truly kind and selfless person.

I could not recommend this as a resource for healthy living and well being more. And remember.. healthiness is one of the top ways to improve your reiki healing.

Reiki Healing.. Reiki Practise.. Gratitude

There are 5 core reiki ideals taught by the founder of reiki healing in our time, Usui Sensei.

They are:

1. Practise Kindness

2. Practise Gratitude

3. Do not use anger

4. Do not worry

5. Work hard

I wanted to start talking about all the ideals a little bit this week, because they are such an important foundation to everyone’s reiki path and healing practise.

Intuition, meditation and the reiki ideals are the 3 pillars of reiki healing, and of reiki practise.

The ideal to practise gratitude is perhaps one of the most powerful for self healing. Usui Sensei said that the contemplation of the reiki ideals was the “secret art of inviting happiness and the miraculous medicine of all disease” 1

The practise of gratitude relieves stress, opens your heart and raises your energy.

We have found some great gratitude resources around the place..

gratefulness.org has a nice list of practises for gratefulness

alison hilber talks about gratitude and forgiveness: a heart healing process

we found some gratitude quotes at wisdom quotes

the definition of gratitude at wiki

express your gratitude at gratitudeunlimited.com

some science and research on gratitude here

but hey, you know how to work google too!

I would like to spend some time talking to you about how the practise of the 5 reiki ideals is related to healing your body’s energy field through working on subtle beliefs linked through your chakras. But for now I think you are getting the connection between this reiki ideal - gratitude - and the heart chakra.. and it is pretty clear it is going to be helpful.

See you soon.

Reiki ideals.. practise kindness.. mind training

I just wanted to clarify the issue of it not being important what you think as much as it is how you respond.

The kind of thinking I was talking about yesterday was the kind like where you are walking down the street and someone yells your name out:

“TC”

You automatically react. Your energy would solidify a bit and you would probably turn around to see which one of your friends is yelling like a crazy person across the street. ha.

It is that sort of reaction/thinking I was saying is not important.

Our curent mind is a product of lots of things both within our control and lots of things outside our control. The important thing is not how our mind is right now.. but what we are going to do with it from here.

That is why the most important thing is how you respond. Every helpful and kind response dissolves the presence of ego emotions which cloud your mind and clarity.

It is like the sky and clouds. Or like dust on a diamond. Ego emotions are just dust covering your essential nature. The place from where reiki flows. Every choice to practise a kind response (or practise any of the other reiki ideals) takes you a little closer to a constant presence of reiki.

I just did not want you to think I was suggesting it does not matter what you think. That you should just think anything you like.

Think well!

Fundamental views of Buddhism

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Some people have asked us about buddhism.. so, what is the fundamental teaching of the buddha?

Often my main teacher, Jamyang Khyentse, (pictured above) will say that the essence of the views of buddhism are the four seals.

“The four fundamental views of Buddhism, called the Four Seals of the Dharma, will never change.

1. Fashion will change, trend will change, feeling will change, but never one day will there be an occasion when someone will find one or two compounded phenomena that are actually permanent. That will never happen. All compounded phenomena are always going to be, have always been and will always be impermanent. That will not change and that is one of the fundamental teachings of the Buddha.

2. All emotion that stems from the ego is always going to lead you to pain. Never will someone one day find emotion coming from ego that actually gives you lasting bliss forever. That will never happen.

3. Never will someone find one or two phenomena actually, truly existing, which Buddha missed. That will never happen.

4. Also, no one will find that nirvana does have some truly existing attribute. Nirvana is beyond extremes.”

(Extremes here are: is [something or nothing or neither or both], is not, both is and is not, neither is or is not)

Reiki ideals - practise kindness

There are 5 core reiki ideals recommended by Usui Sensei, founder of the reiki healing practise.. for all reiki people.

He recommended that these ideals be contemplated morning and night. Together with training and practising intuition and meditation, the practise of the reiki reiki ideals forms the 3 pillars of reiki training.

The five reiki ideals are:

1. Do not use anger

2. Do not worry

3. Work hard

4. Practise Kindness

5. Practise gratitude

The practise of kindness is perhaps the most important of the 5 ideals.

In buddhism kindness is the practise of love. And love relates to the wish for others to be happy. (Compared to compassion which has not wanted others to suffer as its focus)

So what was Usui thinking when he was talking about “practising” kindness. He wanted people to think about how they respond to situations.

We have little opportunity to stop our emotions from reacting as they will to situations.. but we have the power to choose how we will respond. A wise old soul once said to me that it does not matter so much what we think.. as much as it matters how we respond.
