Are some foods better for your energy?
I have wanted to create a vegetable patch for a little while now and give reiki to the vegies. One of the reasons I have thought this would be a good idea is that I have noticed that some foods seem to enhance the clarity of my mind and the strength of my personal energy and some foods seem to do the opposite.
I have wondered if by giving reiki to the good foods whether that would further increase the benefits.
I hope that this will become an ongoing posting series, and that I can report back that things have developed with the vegie patch plan, as part of a larger goal that I have, which is to completely purify my diet. Which is to 100% only eat foods that enhance energy flow, and increase clarity of mind.
So, the question that comes to mind is what foods are good for energy conscious people? What foods enhance your energy, and what foods do not?
Fruits and Vegetables

RT is a big advocate of vegies. It is not so much a Buddhist thing (alot of Buddhist teachers recommend being a vegetarian because it is congruent with the Buddhist commitment to preserve life) as it is an energy thing. Stuart Wilde recommends a diet that consists of 80% fruits and vegetables for the highest energy. Other groups such as the anthroposophical movement (responsible for producing waldorf education) talk about certain foods being lighter than others and speak in almost feng shui, symbolic energy terms, about the image that foods and where they come from conjure up in our minds (for example beef has a very heavy image, big heavy animal..)
Anyway, this is what I have found works best also. About 80% fruits and vegetables, akaline foods. Which seems in harmony with our body, which is largely water and on the alkaline end of the spectrum.
Water, the right amount
Water is another important part of a high energy diet. But, too much water is not helpful. 2-3 litres a day is plenty. Otherwise we may put ourselves at risk of low blood pressure.
Water is also helpful for an energy person on a healing path. It seems a commonly agreed fact in energy circles that water intake, particularly natural or spring water, helps reduce the intensity of some clearing symptoms associated with clearing energy blocks.
Meat and Protein
There needs to be a good amount of meat or some other strong protein substitute in any healthy balanced diet. I am not aiming to get into specifics in this post, more information will follow, because one of my goals is to actually become a vegetarian. But, that requires careful planning, and because we have kids, extra special care.
But, following our general 80/20 rule at this stage, a good energy diet will still include 20% of the heavier, more acidic types of foods, like meats.
