Oh that is SO true! Sometimes I find it difficult because I cannot find any music to suit how I'm feeling and I get so frustrated!! As a writer I always marvel at songwriters who can add that extra depth to their work because words can be so limited but music just touches the soul on so many levels. One of my favourite bands is called Bliss and they are well known in the spiritual groups in the UK. I met the lead singer last weekend and heard her singing in a small room full of people and it was amazing just how much more powerful it was in person to on a tape - I cried because it moved me so much.

And I think the difference lies in whether there is latent anger in the emotion, or jealousy, or whatever.. when we are going deep into the emotion we should be getting past those "blanket" type emotions, that cover up the pain.

Thanks Amanda. I really find music is helpful too. I sometimes think about music and wonder if the challenge is choosing "good" music. Music that is helpful and constructive. Because, especially when I feel down, I can easily put on some depressing love songs and wallow in my own self pity. Sometimes I think it is really helpful to deeply "feel" an emotion. The challenge with the path is discovering when we are "wallowing" and when we are deeply experiencing the emotion, for the purpose of healing and moving on..

What a great post, TC! I am terrible for keeping a regular practise and let life take me over time and time again - I am a truly typical human hehe! But when I *do* remember to take the time to ground and centre myself I find three things help me. The first is music. I cannot play an instrument and I hate to sing and dance when people are around but when I do manage to find the time to let go I find listening to a beautiful and inspiring piece of music does me wonders. When the words move me and the music vibrates through my body I find myself singing along and my mood changes dramatically. The second is writing. I love to write and for me sitting and letting my creativity flow is akin to letting the energy of Reiki flow... the energy just flows through me from source and it fills me with peace and gratitude. The third is to think of my friends and those people I have met who have inspired me. This is like a lazy person's meditation - not quite the depth I'd aim for with meditation which I am very bad at achieving but focussing on them and their love makes me realise how much I have in my life and how beautiful life is and all those things which have brought me down or made me feel less than perfect just float right away. After any of those three I find myself able to look at life from a new and balanced perspective again. Lots of Love to you and your family, Tc!
