Reiki can be used to help with dreams. It can be used to help with lucid dreaming and dream recall.

Becoming more conscious of your dreams and your dream life can assist you with your healing path. We store many unconscious habits and past emotional trauma in our mind stream. And developing the techniques of working with your dreams may help you uncover some otherwise hidden parts of your self.


How to remember your dreams

Generally, it seems, the best way that people suggest how to remember your dreams is to develop the habit of doing so. The first step in developing any good habit is to set your INTENTION. Then, you need to acquire the skills needed to be successful with the task.

In the case of dream recall you need to lie still when you first begin to wake, and allow yourself to relax.

Most of us usually wake up and immediately start to get busy. We wake with a jerk to the tune of our clock radio, we quickly hit the snooze button, and then start thinking busily about the day ahead.

What aids dream recall is if you are able to allow your mind to relax back into the slightly more gentle brain wave of Alpha. “Go back down” into your mind a little bit. And the easiest way to do this is to lie relaxed and still when you first wake up.

Do nothing.

Do not try to think about what you need to do to remember your dreams, except to lie still and relaxed.

Reiki and Dream Recall

For a reiki person, giving yourself reiki before you go to sleep and when you wake up GREATLY aids dream recall. Reiki, like meditation naturally helps slow your brain wave functioning to Alpha and Theta wave rates, which as we talked about above helps recall.

Reiki also aids intention because the intention is set at a deeper brain wave level, namely Alpha or Theta, rather than Beta. Which, simply is like saying you set the intention at the HEART level rather than at the CONSCIOUS or HEAD or THINKING level.

Another good dream recall habit

Another good dream recall habit is to keep a journal. This helps with the intention side of things, because it sends your will the message that you are serious about remembering your dreams, to the extent that you are going to invest the time to write them down. And when you are reflecting on dreams like this you will often remember more details again about the dream.

Dream Journals and Healing

But, perhaps the biggest benefit of writing your dreams down, is that it helps with healing. Keeping a dream journal allows you to start to see patterns over time in your dreaming, and also to identify symbols and have a basis to do more research (into common dream symbolism, see Jung).

And too, while it may be the case that you should in the most part go with your immediate analysis or GUT feel (intuition) about a dream, some dreams may become clearer as time goes on, with the benefit of hind-sight.

Other factors

Diet. Eating fatty foods or eating right before you go to bed will have a negative affect on your dream recall.

Keeping a regular sleep routine aids dream recall.

Lucid Dreaming

Lucid dreaming is defined as the “conscious perception of one’s state while dreaming” (wiki).

In a similar way that giving yourself reiki before you go to sleep aids dream recall by helping set the intention for it, giving yourself reiki before going to sleep can also greatly aid lucid dreaming.

Energy, like attracts like

Also, it should be noted that giving yourself reiki before you go to sleep not only aids dream recall and lucid dreaming because it helps set the intention for them, but also because by giving yourself reiki before you go to sleep you also place yourself in an ENERGY STATE that is far closer to one that experiences clear dream recall and clear lucid dreams.

Everything has an energetic vibration. And with energy like attracts like. If lucid dreaming, say, has an energetic vibration of 3, and your energy is vibrating at a 2, you will not have much success. But, giving yourself reiki will help align your energy, bringing it up to 3 (for lack of a better way to describe it).

Lucid Dreaming and Healing

Lucid dreaming allows you to change the content and experience of your dream. This is not only great fun it is excellent for healing.

Lucid dreaming is a powerful and safe way to work through emotional issues we may be experiencing in our waking life.

Personally, I cannot claim to be much of a lucid dreamer. I usually have the awareness I am dreaming, but have what I am told is a common problem, that I get too excited about the fact I have recognised myself dreaming, and start to wake up.

I also have a theory that I relate being aware with the waking state, and that I need to get used to being aware at the more gentle/ subtle level of consiousness that is dreaming.
