Reiki and Kids, why it helps so much?

Tonight I was reminded how much Reiki helps me with parenting and supporting our kids. I put our eldest son, who is 8, to bed and read him a story, which is our normal routine. And, then I will usually pause and just sit with him for a few moments before tucking him in and saying goodnight. This is the time he will often bring up something that is on his mind that he needs to talk about.

And, tonight was one of those nights. I had noticed he had been a little emotional when I got home from work, and a little short tempered. It turns out he was feeling sensitive about something someone had said to him about a mark he had on his cheek (which he got from playing a who can give themself the biggest red mark from squeezing their cheek game. lol) So, I asked him if he would like me to give his cheek some reiki. Which he said he would, very much.

While giving him 10 minutes or so of hands on reiki, I observed the following:

1. At the start his energy was very low. His energy body was rocking back and forward, side to side, ever so slightly.
2. The more energy he absorbed, the more he visibly relaxed. His breathing slowed, and he sighed.
3. His confidence and resilience built up with the build up of energy.
4. He was not as caught up in the negative though patterns around the event, and even chuckled about it.
5. His personal energy was replenished and he was able to regain his power.

Kids have tons of energy. But, they are very vulnerable to energy loss. Giving the kids some reiki is like a little short cut to keeping them on a even keel (or closer to an even keel). It can help them have greater resilience and also helps them tap into their positive coping strategies.

Like all of us, kids, will slip into not-so-helpful coping strategies if their energy dips too far. And like all of us, all our characteristics and personality traits are strengths or weaknesses merely based on our energy.
