Reiki Ideals.. Do not anger

Implementing an ideal like DO NOT ANGER into your life does not have to be as impossible as you might think.

But it is going to take some considerable change in our thinking.

We need to start to think about the ways we cope with the world, and the ways we act in it. We need to start to slow down.

We need to begin to see that we have a choice in how we respond.

Really what Usui meant when he suggested, do not anger, is not to try and pretend that nothing annoys you any more, he was talking about what you choose to do after that. Do you keep the chain of thoughts going, do you rightously fight back in actual action?

Normally, we just think that our reactions are not within our control (or we know they are and we dont take practising different ways of coping seriously enough to make the difficult effort at that important time when anger arises). Which is half the problem. The mind is meant to serve you, it is your servant, not the other way around.

This is also where a few minutes (5 minutes) of just sitting, not trying to still your mind, not imagining waterfalls, just sitting and watching you thoughts with slight disinterest, but warmth.. like an older person watching children.. would be helpful.

Because the absolute key to being able to just simply give up anger, is to realise that you have a choice. To see that there is a space between you (heart) and your thoughts (contents of your heart). When you realise even just a little of this space.. you begin to open the possibility to follow one of Usui’s ideals or principles and start practising the secret art of inviting happiness and the miraculous medicine of all diseases.
