Reiki practise.. reiki training.. daily meditation

If there is one thing I could tell you is going to help you with reiki.. it is daily meditation.

I pray that everyone reading reikiblogger is in a situation where they are able to have just 10 minutes a day of their own to sit quietly and watch their thoughts.

Most people, including me, when they started thinking about meditation.. first off.. think they should be able to stop thinking. ”Quieten their mind.” That is what I thought I was trying to do when I started doing a little bit of meditation.

Have you ever tried to get your mind not to think?

It is not very easy. In reality, your mind is up and down.. sometimes quiet and serene, sometimes volitile and full of energy.

Meditation practise.. like we talk about in reiki training, has nothing to do with whether there are lots of thoughts or none at all… wavey ocean or peaceful lake.

Daily meditation, is to help you increase the strength of your intuition for your healing practise, and to increase your natural awareness, which aids the flow of reiki and perhaps the purity with which it flows.

Reiki meditation, as taught by Usui (as far as I am aware.. and if anyone has some different teachings please share them.. we are all supportive of everyones view of reiki training here.. and welcome anyones input that is shared with kindness) was simple sitting meditation with hands in gassho or prayer position.

In our little reiki clinic we do not emphasis gassho, we find sitting with hands on the knees or left hand in right, are good too.. as too is sitting on a chair, on a stool or on a cushion.. as long as the spine is reasonably naturally straight.. and the body is relaxed.

The most important point is what you are doing with your mind.

    Simple. Really.

    Sitting.

Just resting comfortably. Aware and alert. But, not overly attentive to your thoughts.

The saying is that you take the presence of an old person watching children play. And this applies not only to your thinking.. but to the external phenomena aswell. Ideally, you want to try and rest in the presence of reiki. Just as you would during a treatment.. except that in your 10minutes of daily meditation, you are having a little holiday.. just sitting.. not doing anything else.. not getting caught up in thinking.. not getting destracted outside.

    Just sitting.

That is it. Really. Sounds easy. And sometimes it is.. sometimes not. If you can do just 10 minutes of that everyday, your intuition and awareness will grow stronger and stronger. And you may feel that you would like to site 2x per day for 10mins. Great.

Not too tense. Not too loose. Is the Buddha’s advice on daily meditation practise. Shunryi Suzuki says just sit. Nothing extra needs to be added. No pride in a quiet mind. No self hatred in a busy one. No good or bad in your meditation sessions. Just sitting in the lovely presence of reiki.

    That is it!
