i really dont think you should be putting the master symbol on like that. the master symbol really only needs to be used for the attunement process.. but feel free to debate that one out with your reiki teacher.. this is the sequence i use:

1. distant
2. power
3. harmony (i think we are talking about the same symbol)
4. power to close at the end.

some people teach that you need to “pin” each symbol with the power symbol, i do not find that to be true.

it is also more than enough to draw the distant healing symbol over your envelope and then just give reiki, like you would in a normal hands on treatment. but, if you like using the symbols then you should, by all means.. just know that reiki is a gentle healing art, you do not need to go overboard with the use of symbols.. simplicity is key.

in terms of past tense.. if you are sending reiki to the past, that is how you should state it on the piece of paper. if you are sending to the future, that is how you should write it.

hi, i’m a little confused as to how to put the symbols on the reiki box. i have a reiki envolop and i put the master, power, distant, power symbols then the master, power, harmony, distant, poer symbol. is the sequence ok? also should i draw the symbols on the envolop? should the messages be in the past tense?

This is a well rounded article on distant healing. I like to reduce the person receiving a healing to 6″ size person — so I can easily and quickly place the person in my Reiki hands. Or you can just write the name of a person on a piece of paper and just heal the paper.
