Meditation practise and reiki path

Why do reiki people practise sitting meditation?

There are many side benefits why reiki people practise daily sitting meditation. And, one major reason.

Minor benefits include:

1. Cleaner subtle energy channels (nadis)
2. Increased contentment and joy
3. Greater ability to concentrate for longer periods of time
4. Increased self discipline (discussed further below)
5. Increased familiarity with reiki ideals (discussed below)

But, the major reason reiki people practise daily sitting meditation is because sitting meditation builds mental clarity. And mental clarity aids clear functioning of your intuition.Reiki people value intuition because it is a great aid in healing and general life. The best style of reiki healing is one that is guided by intuition.

Consistency is important

One of the benefits of sitting meditation is that it increases your self discipline. For that matter any activity that you commit to and follow through on builds your self discipline. For example, if you commit to tying your left shoe first every day when you get dressed, and you follow through on that, you will build your self discipline.

Any activity where your mind recognises you mean what you say, will build self discipline.

How do you do sitting meditation?

The traditional way sitting meditation is taught (or at least the way I was taught was traditional) in reiki training is to sit or kneel. Placing the hands at the heart in “gassho” (prayer posture) pictured below.. and to simply sit.. allowing the reiki energy to flow through your body.

Increased familiarity with reiki ideals

Usui taught daily contemplation of the reiki ideals (morning and night) as a part of the daily meditation session.

By including this contemplation in the meditation sessions the reiki person builds their general and subtle understanding and insight into the practical application and benefits of the reiki ideals.
